Equestrian sport dominates the four days, competitors ranging from Olympic champions to local Pony Club children and everyone in between. Many different types of equestrian competition including eventing and dressage can be seen. If you are not especially horse-crazy though, fear not, there is still plenty to watch and lots of things to keep you entertained!

The Bruadar Country Fair takes place on Saturday and Sunday, and showcases all sorts of countryside pursuits. Displays in the Bruadar Country Fair Arena in recent years have encompassed everything from traditional countryside pastimes such as falconry and gun dog training to the more modern activity of quad bike stunt riding!

Over 200 trade stands offer something to suit every taste and every budget. Fine art, casual and country clothing, jewellery and vehicles are all available. A large food hall is full of delights – handmade chocolates, organic and rare breed meats, pastries and baked goods, fine wines… delicious! 2019 will mark the 31st anniversary of international horse trials being held at Blair Castle. Blair Castle International Horse Trials and Country Fair is Scotland’s leading equestrian event, running over four days in August each year and attracting in excess of 40,000 visitors. Olympic medallists compete alongside amateurs in the four International event classes, whilst British Showjumping and showing classes provide a platform for riders in other disciplines to compete on Blair’s hallowed turf. The Country Fair runs alongside the equestrian activities on the Saturday and Sunday, featuring displays of both traditional and more modern countryside pursuits.
