Most importantly they provide river and loch canoe trips, guided kayaking, paddle-boarding, and rock climbing. All on the river just outside Aberfeldy and fifteen minutes away from Pitlochry, Perthshire.

Paddle Boarding or 'Stand Up Paddle Boarding' – is the fastest growing paddle outdoor sport in the UK and USA. This is one of the best Perthshire outdoor activities. So you are provided with instruction and all the equipment including a wet suit. All you need to bring is your swimwear and shoes for on the water. Venues include Loch Faskally at Pitlochry, Loch Tay, the River Lyon and River Tay at Aberfeldy, Perthshire.

Private Paddle Boarding Session – is an ideal outdoor activity for the novice. Importantly a full day guided trip allows for time to explore the islands on the loch. Stopping at a picturesque spot on the river for lunch. Various forms of wildlife are often seen, including evidence of beaver activity on the river.

Kayaking – the outdoor activity staff will teach you all you need to get started in a kayak. Kayaks are paddled by one person, so they give you a true sense of freedom. All you have to bring is your swimwear (wet clothes) and shoes for the water - the rest is supplied for you.

Mountain Bike Hire - Aberfeldy and the surrounding Perthshire landscape offers outstanding biking to suit all levels and tastes. So why not enjoy a family cycle along one of the many local river paths, or a more adrenalin-charged run down a forested mountain bike track. There are many local routes to choose from.

Bouldering and climbing

Indoor bouldering is ideal for a wet day. The new indoor bouldering wall, at Beyond Adventures in Aberfeldy, is ideal for beginners to learn all about rock climbing and bouldering. Besides you will learn how to tackle graded climbs and traverse from one side to the other. Short sessions are available, with expert tuition. Cost : £15 per person includes an instructed for 1 hour session.

Group costs : £40 per hour – for up to 10 young people.

Outdoor rock climbing. No matter what your age, this is an ideal outdoor activity where the instructor will choose a crag and route to match your needs and aspirations. Half or full day available, rock climbing and abseiling. Most importantly due to this activity being further afield, booking is essential and it’s subject to availability.

Adventure Days in Scotland

For the novice -wanting an outdoor adventure in Scotland, an opportunity to sleep under the stars. The Micro Adventure is a two day one night expedition travelling by canoe with all of the necessary equipment. Designed to be fun, achievable and just the right length for a Scottish outdoor adventure. You will be looked after from start to finish. You will be taught the skills you need.

River Tay Open Canoe Descent – A Perthshire outdoor activity involving canoeing down Scotland’s largest river, the River Tay. Starting at the southern end of Loch Tay and travelling downstream. Suitable for those who have some previous experience of open canoeing on moving water. Five nights camping with an option for bed and breakfast accommodation.

For the family - Great Glen Canoe Expedition -an opportunity for the family to experience a four day, three night outdoor adventure days in Scotland, camping and canoeing. Suitable for those with little canoeing experience as well as experienced paddlers who prefer a guided trip.

Travelling along the sheltered waters of the Caledonian Canal and a number of Scottish lochs including Loch Ness. Time is built in for exploring the locks and villages on the way. The pace of the trip is geared for families. Coaching will be given to help you develop paddling skills and sailing rafted canoes as necessary. All equipment and food is included.

The River Spey Descent -suitable for canoeists with some experience. The river journey to the sea involves five days paddling. The first night is in a B&B with the next 3 nights camping. The Spey descent is the classic Scottish river descent, ideal for those looking for adventure days out in Scotland. Starting at Loch Inch, each day the river gets a little bigger and faster than the day before. Ideal for teaching the vital techniques as the trip progresses.

Other Adventure Days in Scotland:

  • North West Highland Canoe and Climbing Expedition - combines hill walking with open canoeing.
  • West Highlands and Moidart Canoe Expedition - This wilderness expedition combines hill walking with open canoeing on Loch Shiel and the sea around the Ardnamurchan penisula.
  • The Great Glen canoe expedition - This five day outdoor adventure expedition includes four nights of camping, along the Great Glen. Paddling from the west to the east coast of Scotland. Throughout the expedition coaching will be given to help you develop your paddling skills and sailing rafted canoes may also be appropriate in favourable wind conditions.
